Dance Injuries Oakville, ON

Dance Injuries

Like many athletes, dancers often challenge and push their bodies to levels that put them at greater risk for injury. Dancers are artistic athletes who must balance extreme ranges of motion while maintaining muscular strength and endurance while ensuring it is perceived to be effortless. Unfortunately, the stress and repetition of practicing and performing can take a toll on your body.

When it comes to the evaluation and treatment of your dance injury, your physiotherapists, athletic therapists, chiropractors, and massage therapists at Leaps and Bounds: Performance Rehabilitation will not only focus on the injury but help you understand the reason for the injury. This is true for all types of dance. Furthermore, your therapist will help you recognize patterns that would indicate a pending injury so that you can be proactive in lessening the extent of the injury, if not preventing the injury entirely. Make Leaps and Bounds: Performance Rehabilitation your preferred physiotherapy clinic for a dance injury in Oakville, ON. Request an appointment, with Carolina Rotondo, and get on the road to recovery.

Like many athletes, dancers often challenge and push their bodies to levels that put them at greater risk for injury. As a dancer, you rely upon your body to make your craft possible. Unfortunately, the stress and repetition of practicing and performing can take a toll on your body. Unlike the average athlete, you are unable to wear bulky braces or too much tape – your body needs to reach an extreme range of motion, as well as maintain the strength of your muscles and endurance. We understand this, which is why Leaps and Bounds: Performance Rehabilitation is the preferred physiotherapy clinic for a dancing injury in Oakville, ON.

Dancer Screening

Our physiotherapists, athletic therapists, chiropractors, and massage therapists at Leaps and Bounds: Performance Rehabilitation will perform a pre-season biomechanical and movement assessment of a dancer’s health and wellness using both surveys and physical tests. Ideally, screening is performed before any pain or injury occurs. Screening helps dancers with goal-setting, effective and efficient dance training, injury prevention, and tips to sustain life-long dancing. It also helps dance educators identify trends, strengths, and weaknesses in their dancers and plan a dance-specific conditioning program. We’re looking forward to seeing you at our Oakville, ON clinic for your dancer screening.  Alternatively, if you’re in Oakville or the surrounding areas, we’re happy to bring this service to your studio!

Pointe Readiness Assessments

Our expertise in dance at Leaps and Bounds: Performance Rehabilitation includes  assessing the dancer for her ability to initiate pointe training using biomechanical, strength and balance testing.

SEE HOW WE’VE HELPED OUR OAKVILLE, ON COMMUNITY GET BACK TO THEIR LIVES!

I took my daughter to Leaps and Bounds. When we walked in, it was almost like we had gone to visit friends. She was treated with impeccable care and within 2-3 treatments was back on her feet. If you are a dancer, there is no one better than Carolina to get you back on your feet. It is nice to know if (and when) injuries happen, we have found the right rehabilitation centre. I strongly recommend them.

My 14yo daughter is working with Carolina to address a dance-related injury, and we are thrilled to have found her. She has guided us through numerous stretches and exercises over the past several months, and her work has proven so helpful both for her initial injury and ongoing dance practice

– Michael O.

My daughter was a competitive dancer with an ankle and hip issue, and Carol’s expertise in dance, the turnout boards, and the dancer-specific treatment were amazing – such great support to have as a dance mom!
